Central Diesel

A logo concept for Central Diesel. It is intended for a shop that deals with diesel machines (selling, reparation, consultation, etc). The concept here is to make a bold, straight drawing that fits the name.

Easter Eggs

Today's post is about Easter, include my illustration below. This illustration is for celebrating Easter Day which falls on April, 24 (GMT +08.00).

Colorful decorated Easter eggs act as a symbol of a new life emerging when the chick hatches out. Reminding us at the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death and His ascension to heaven. May the spirit of Easter encouraging people not to give up or run away from their problem easily. Instead, one must face it as Jesus Christ did. Even He did it for the sake of human kind. His bravery, His right will, and His spirit should be followed.

DJ Kouei Identity

A DJ identity for DJ Kouei, resides in California, USA. He plays trance and progressive music. He also has radio show on Trancesonic.fm presenting Rush Hour every second Tuesday of the month and every Tuesday night UK time. I created his brand identity started in the middle of March 2010 until early August 2010. Check out his brand identity making.

His early brand concept based on his skinny hair which I thought is very unique, not all DJ have the hairstyle.

In context:

 

At previous I didn't add a circle, but when it stood itself, the logo seemed hard to use in context. He also added that the logo just consist of his name only, removing the word “DJ”

But I decided not to use it because similar shapes have been taken by other music band and I thought that the logo looked too thin and didn't represent the image of a DJ. Below is an alternative logo but still unused.

 

 

After doing a questionnaire about him and gathered information, the final design looks below (in frame)

 

The previous headset still used, but I made it a little look better. The “o” was inspired by the word energy which I translate into the shape of lightning alike, thus making the “o” the center of the attention. He really liked it and I continued to finalize the logo, make it smoother, symmetrical, delete unnecessary nodes/points, adding colors, etc. Below is the final logo for DJ Kouei.

Playful - plaiful

Hello readers! It's nice to see this blog is still breathing. I've just completed another design in which I am showing you below. After the retro-sparky effect shown by The Retro'styler, I stepped forward to a bit more complex design which fosters old and new techniques I've learned from the tutorial downloaded. Inspired by the amazing work of Nelson Balabanand Fernando Martinez at GoMediaZine(thanks to his great and helpful tutorial) I created my own 3D typography poster named “Plaiful” (read: playful).

 

 

 

I used three programs here, Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop (you can use only Illustrator and Photoshop as Inkscape can be covered by Illustrator). I used Inkscape for defining the fonts used (Illustrator is also viable) but I prefered Inkscape for its simple and practical navigation. After defining the fonts, the workspace will be set into Illustrator, and Photoshop for decorating and perfecting the image. 

The word for the poster is actually “playful”, but I changed it into “plaiful” (notice the “ay” changed into “ai” - my logo). The concept here is “fun” so I used bright colors and spectrum gradients to make it alive alike. Also colorful pattern and shapes do contribute to the poster. I did it in my spare time so it took almost two weeks to finish it (the conception took approximately 2 – 3 days, creating the shapes took about 3 days, coloring took about 2 days, adding other elements about 2 days, decorating and perfecting took 1 day).

Retro'styler

Howdy readers! It’s great to see this blog go to public again and this time I’d like to share a work of me using Adobe Illustrator (thanks to Vectortuts+ for the amazing and creative tutorial). The theme is ‘retro’ and I’d like to bring the design back to oldies but still keep the touch modern. The title of my work is “70’styler”. I used the font that have more bold lines and swirls and make the letters close each other to make it more centered. The background made by custom brushes and some layer style. I hope you enjoyed it, and as usual if you have any comment or question feel free to it!

DJ Zen

Another logo design concept, DJ Zen. The logo is made based on the name itself, Zen. Zen is portrayed by an almost-closed circle, represents perfection, completeness. Zen is also could be derived by Zenith, means at peak (top). Zen is also associated with god or high-level human giving the perception that this DJ seeks for perfection and his songs (or mixes) are on high level of quality. The two circles (big and small) represent a phonograph record used by DJ to scratch or spin.

My Logo Concept

I started to design my logo several months ago, but was postponed due to other works prioritized. At first, I want to design my logo using my name's first letters, which are A and I. From the sketching, I found out that it can be made into ambigram, which I thought would give added value as creating an ambigram is not an easy task. My unfinished design is below (haven't posted):

The letter A and I are connected on the bottom, so if it's turned upside down, it still can be read AI. AI could means Artificial Intelligence or my full name, Ardi Irawan. But the problem is the two letters connected seem to read N instead of AI. I've tried to solve the N problem by adding a dot to strengthen the I but I think the dot makes the logo look unproportional. Months later, I try to redesign it and here's my final design:

It looks like a number 2, so I add my name to make it clear and unambigous. I add a dot to make the logo clear in case I didn't place my name. Timeless is one of the key to a great logo, and gray is perfect for this.
